Pastor of Family Ministries

Summary:
The Family Ministries Pastor will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all ministries serving children, youth, and their families, from birth through high school graduation. This role is dedicated to equipping and supporting parents and guardians as the primary spiritual disciple-makers in their homes, and to fostering a vibrant, Christ-centered environment where families can grow in faith, discipleship, and service. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, biblically-grounded leader with a proven ability to build strong relationships, teach well, develop effective programs, and empower volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Vision & Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive, biblically based vision for family ministry that aligns with the church's mission and values, with a strong emphasis on equipping and supporting parents in their role as spiritual leaders in their homes, and fostering intergenerational relationships within the church.
• Parent & Family Equipping:
  • Create and oversee initiatives that empower parents and guardians to effectively disciple their children at home, providing them with resources, workshops, and coaching.
  • Develop and facilitate parenting classes, seminars, and small groups focused on Christian parenting principles, family devotionals, and fostering a strong spiritual foundation within the home.
  • Provide pastoral care, guidance, and support to families facing various challenges, always pointing them to Christ.
• Children's Ministry (Birth - 5th Grade):
  • Oversee our Children’s Ministry staff in developing, engaging, age-appropriate, and biblically sound curriculum and programming for Sunday mornings and other special events.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and affirm a team of dedicated volunteers.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Youth Ministry (6th - 12th Grade):
  • Lead and develop dynamic youth programs that foster spiritual growth, community, and outreach.
  • Mentor and disciple youth, encouraging their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Recruit, train, and empower youth leaders and volunteers.
  • Plan and execute events, retreats, and ministry trips that promote discipleship and community.
• Volunteer Development & Leadership:
  • Recruit, train, equip, and empower a robust team of volunteers for all family ministries.
  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and appreciation for all volunteers.
  • Develop a clear leadership pipeline for volunteer roles within family ministry.
• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work collaboratively with other church staff and ministries to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to discipleship across all age groups.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall leadership of the church.
• Administration & Budget:
  • Manage and oversee the family ministries budget responsibly.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all safety and organizational policies.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Preaching 6 times a year or more. Particularly in ways that help to equip and empower families and foster intergenerational connections.
• Administrative capacities in church systems and policy development are a bonus.

Qualifications:

• A clear and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by a life of discipleship and spiritual maturity.
• Agreement with the beliefs and theological distinctives of the Evangelical Covenant Church. (Evangelical Covenant Church background preferred.)
• Bachelor's degree in biblical studies, theology, Christian education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in full-time family ministry (or similar) leadership within a church setting.
• Proven ability to equip and support parents in their role as spiritual leaders.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective programs for children, youth, and families.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, train, motivate, and empower volunteers.
• A servant heart with a passion for seeing families thrive in their faith.
• Proficient in relevant technology and ministry software.
• Successfully pass a background check.

• Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through all interactions with the congregation, staff, and volunteers.
• Fully participate in the church's life through worshiping, connecting, and serving.
• Abide by the “Columbia Grove Staff Handbook.”

This position would report to the Senior Pastor on overall program vision and work with the Pastor of Congregational Care on daily and weekly financial and scheduling needs.
